Postdoctoral Researcher Recruitment Climate Change and Ecosystem Stability Team
The Climate Change and Ecosystem Stability Team is one of the first systematic research teams established at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The team focuses on the core scientific question of the maintenance mechanisms of Asian tropical forest ecosystem stability and the synergistic enhancement of sustainability under climate change. It is an interdisciplinary team that integrates theoretical innovation with technological breakthroughs, grounded in international frontiers and national needs. By integrating plant physiology, ecophysiology, soil science, microbiology, community ecology, ecosystem ecology, paleontology, and cutting-edge geoscience techniques, our team aims to unravel the cross-scale response mechanisms of tropical ecosystems to climate change and to develop smart monitoring technologies and stability-enhancement techniques for plantations and natural forests.
Guided by the team culture of pushing frontiers, disciplinary integration, resource consolidation, and collaborative innovation, the team integrates aboveground and belowground processes across scales and trophic levels, combining comprehensive plot observations with manipulation experiments to systematically resolve the stability maintenance mechanisms of tropical Asian forests under climate change. The team focuses on Southwest China and the Indochina Peninsula. From Shangri-La (in Yunnan) to Malaysia, the team already built platforms include a series of latitudinal and elevational gradient plots, multi-scale monitoring network, large field rainfall exclusion experiment platforms, intelligent greenhouse experimental manipulation platform, and advanced instruments for monitoring organisms ranging from microbes to plant physiology and ecosystem processes.
The team currently consists of 21 members (with doctoral degrees), including 10 full research professors, 8 associate research professors, and 3 assistant research professors. The team is co-led by two PIs (Prof. Yongjiang Zhang and Prof. Zexin Fan) and five key researchers (Prof. Jiaolin Zhang, Prof. Xiaodong Yang, Prof. Luxiang Lin, Prof. Qinghai Song, and Prof. Chenggang Liu).
To strengthen the team and advance scientific research, we are now recruiting postdoctoral researchers globally. Candidates who are passionate about scientific research, interested in relevant research directions of team, and meet the qualifications are warmly welcome to apply. Applications are accepted year-round, and this recruitment notice remains valid long-term with dynamic updates.
· Doctoral candidates about to graduate or those who have obtained a doctoral degree within the past three years. Generally under 35 years of age, with excellent academic record and good physical health.
· Good political awareness, ideological quality, and moral standards; law-abiding with no negative records; strong dedication and sense of responsibility; keen interest in scientific research and the ability to conduct independent research.
· Relevant professional background, with at least one SCI paper published, and good English proficiency.
All professors in the team recruit postdocs. Associate professors can co-supervise postdocs together with professors. For supervisors' research directions and email addresses, please see the table below. Detailed information is available on the team website: https://xtbg.cas.cn/2022/kywzq/ces
