中国科学院西双版纳热带植物园节肢动物行为与生态研究组成立于2019年3月，由陈占起研究员任课题组长。课题组以节肢动物（主要集中在蜘蛛和螳螂类群）为研究对象，通过研究其繁殖行为、社会行为的生物学特征，并探讨相应生物学特征的产生机制、演化模式以及相应特征在其生境中与周边生态因子的相互作用，从而进一步分析这些生物学特征出现和存在的适应性以及生态学意义。科研工作的开展秉承：自然现象-研究问题-研究假说-实验验证的研究模式，并通过对照实验和控制实验的对比得出可靠而客观的结论。研究课题涉及领域为：动物行为学、演化生物学，生态学、生理学和神经科学。

Arthropod Behavior and Ecology Group (ABE) is a new established lab with focus on behavioral studies of Arthropods, research fields refer to sexual selection, parental care, cognition and social behaviors. These studies are trying to answer the questions of what strategies animals use for reproductive success, what benefits they could achieve from a specific reproduction strategy, how these strategies evolved and why they have to evolve and the interactions between these reproductive strategies and their living environmental factors.
