宏观进化研究组成立于2017年，由国家人才计划入选者Harald Schneider研究员组建，是一个国际化的研究团队，成员来自德国、中国、日本、缅甸、泰国、菲律宾、印度、肯尼亚、津巴布韦和巴基斯坦等10个国家。
研究组立足中国西南及毗邻的东南亚和一带一路沿线国家丰富的生物多样性，综合运用形态分类学、分子系统学、基因组学、生态学和古生物学研究手段，探讨早期陆地植物的起源和演化，以及生物类群对气候变化和环境变迁的适应和演化机制，不仅提升对现有生物多样性及其起源演化的认知，为生物多样性的保护利用提供智力支持，而且为生物多样性丰富的国家和地区培养未来研究人才。研究成果发表在Nature、PNAS、Current Biology和MBE等国际主流期刊。
The Macroevolution Research Group was set up in 2017 by the famous evolutionist, Prof. Harald Schneider. Macroevolution group is an international recognized group with team members from China, Germany, India, Japan, Kenya, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Zimbabwe.
Focusing on the rich biodiversity of SW China and adjacent SE Asia, the research team integrates morphology, molecular systematics, genomics, ecology and paleontology methods to elucidate the origin and evolution of early land plants, as well as the adaptation and evolution mechanism to climate change and environmental change. We aim not only to improve the understanding of the evolutionary history of plants especially their genomes, but provide also intellectual support to the protection and utilization of biodiversity. Training talented researchers is core activity. Recent publications include papers in Nature, PNAS, Current Biology and MBE.
